Tyge Tile Art

Roz Tyge is such a multi-talented artist.  While at college at MSU studying ceramics she spent time studying tile work intensively at the Pewabic Tile Company in Detroit.  Pewabic was the vision of ceramics pioneer Mary Chase Straton, started at the turn of the 20th century in 1903.  At her home studio in Traverse City she makes tiles and more, incorporating them with fine woodworking, in pieces such as mirror frames, shelves, tables, fireplaces, mantles...and more!  She makes mosics of wood and beautifully molded and glazed tiles.  Her pieces for the home are functional and beautiful.

Lately she has been pursuing her talents in graphic arts, with images ranging from dogs and cats to teapots and fish, printed on shirts and cards.  All to benefit an "old pets home".

I call Roz an artist with her act together.  She does special orders for customers wishing to choose their tile colors... dimensions, etc.  Just give us your ideas.
