*Please note, we have had difficulty getting work from the Careys.  They had significant wind damage to their studio. It has been a rough time for them.  We will keep you posted on their progress.

We have long been fans of the whimsical birds by the Careys.  A little background:

Craig Carey (born 1947 in LaPorte Indiana)
For the past 45 years this self taught woodworker
has created an expansive body of work with
his own concepts, designs, and patterns.
Each piece is individually hand crafted on a small scale,
with certain pieces ranging in quantity of only 3 or 4 a year.
Working primarily with found wood, pond willow, and tin
Craig then applies an extensive multi layer process to achieve
the deep, vibrate colors that are a signature of his work.
Craig’s work has been seen in Neiman Marcus,
Better Homes and Gardens, Country Home,
and Metropolitan Home and can be found in
private collections and galleries around the country.

     Madeline Carey
After working with her father since childhood
to learn the process of creating his brightly
colored pieces Madeline branched out to create
her own work with paper mache.
For nearly ten years she has been creating various
objects out of a combination of paper pulp, sawdust,
and an adhesive mixture. It’s a long process
of layers, hand molding, drying time, sanding, priming,
and painting and no two pieces ever turn out the same.
Her pieces are found in a number of private collections.
